The subsidiary DURATEL has developed an optical wall socket for FTTH applications and, in the case of the hybrid version, for those related to copper technology, both in relation to the aesthetic needs of users and installation problems.
It indeed:
- it can be installed in pre-existing telephone wall sockets of the most common standards used in Europe;
- it can also be installed in ordinary boxes for wall sockets (UNI503);
- it can accommodate SC or LC type optical connectors;
- offers the necessary space to wrap the richness of fiber of the last horizontal section, necessary to facilitate the splicing operations;
- it can also accommodate the electrical termination of the existing copper user system, thus allowing to offer the user’s POTS terminals the VoIP service provided by the FXS interface of the ONT or to make the best use of the xDSL signal in the filtered version;
- it is small in size and easy to configure, minimizing installation problems linked to the various environmental constraints.
The optical socket developed by DURATEL is the ideal solution for the transition from the era of copper to that of optical fiber. In fact, it mainly consists of two sections, respectively dedicated to the FTTH optical termination and to the electrical termination dedicated to the user’s POTS system as well as for xDSL applications.
The hybrid optical user termination socket for FTTH network complies with Telecom Italia Technical Specifications 945 (ed. 2010).
Configurations
The hybrid optical socket developed by Duratel offers two basic configurations (vers. A and vers. B) suitable for the main needs of the customer. In addition, the high modularity of the product ensures maximum flexibility, allowing the installation of different combinations of optical and copper adapters.
Version A is equipped with:
- wall mountable socket
- 2 optical adapters (SC-PC type)
- 1 x RJ11 socket with surge protection
Version B is equipped with:
- wall mountable socket
- 1 optical adapter (SC-PC type)
- 1 RJ11 socket for POTS applications
- 1 RJ11 socket for xDSL applications
Mechanical Specifications
Dimensions: (H x W x D) 80 x 80 x 20 mm
Compliant with ROHS specifications
Ideal for fiber cables with bending radius of Ø 30mm (G.652), Ø 10mm (G.657 A) and Ø 7.5mm (G.657 B)
Installation
The optical socket can be easily installed on the wall in three ways:
- in the standard square flush-mounted box for telephone sockets
- in an electrical flush-mounted box (type 503)
- in an external mounting box (type 503)
