Splitter for Corning and Krone Frames
Frames of this type can support 6 to 10 strips, each capable of accommodating up to 10 individual splitters. Each frame can therefore terminate up to 100 user lines, equipping them with the necessary filtering features. The POTS, LINE and DSL connections of the strips are made with IDC contacts, which allow easy and simple termination of the telephone pairs.
If there is no splitter module inserted, the POTS and LINE terminations are automatically connected to each other and the DSL termination is open. In this case, only the POTS service is provided to the interested user. By inserting the (single) splitter modules, the connection between the POTS and LINEA terminations is sectioned with the insertion of the filter element, to which the DSL termination is connected through blocking capacitors of the DC remote power supply, if present.
In Krone technology, modules of two sizes are available: wide and narrow (slim). Wide modules occupy two strip slots and make all contacts (POTS, LINE and DSL) on the same side of the frame. Narrow modules occupy only one slot but make the POTS and LINE termination contacts on the front side of the splitter and the DSL termination contact on the rear side (see figure).
